We schedule and manage roof access appointments for property owners and site managers across Sheffield. Founded in 2011, our small team handles inspection visits, contractor coordination and repair scheduling so that roof work happens on time and without confusion.
15 years in business 1,228 jobs completed 6 people on the team
Betterzoneway was set up in 2011 by a small group of tradespeople who kept running into the same problem: roof visits got booked, then forgotten, delayed or double-booked with other works on site. Gutters would get inspected the same week a chimney repair was scheduled, and nobody had told the scaffolding crew. We started keeping a shared diary for a handful of local clients, and within a couple of years that diary had turned into a proper booking service.
Today we still work from the same address on Abbeydale Road. What has changed is the number of people who rely on the diary — from a handful of neighbours in 2011 to 630 clients across Sheffield by now, spread over roughly 42 new clients a year. The core job has not changed: we make sure the right person is on the right roof at the right time.
Our aim is straightforward: give roofers, inspectors and property owners one reliable point of contact for arranging roof access. We are not a roofing contractor ourselves — we organise the appointments, confirm access, and keep everyone informed if a slot moves because of weather or a delayed delivery of materials.
We work across 2 districts in and around Sheffield, which keeps travel times short and lets us fit in same-week visits more often than a wider service area would allow. We would rather stay focused on this patch of the city and know it well than spread thin trying to cover the whole of South Yorkshire.
Every appointment gets a written time slot, a named contact, and a note on what access is needed — ladder, scaffold tower or flat roof hatch. Nothing is arranged verbally only.
We typically reply to a new request within 1 hour during business hours, so a query sent on a weekday morning rarely waits until the next day for an answer.
155 of our clients have booked a second job with us. We keep records of past visits so repeat bookings do not start from a blank page.
Over 15 years we have arranged 1,228 completed jobs, ranging from single gutter inspections to multi-day chimney repointing projects that needed scaffold access booked weeks in advance. That volume has taught us where things usually go wrong on a roof job — bad weather windows, missed key handovers, contractors arriving before scaffolding is certified safe — and we build checks for those points into every booking we make.
We currently offer 8 distinct services connected to roof access and scheduling, from one-off inspection bookings to ongoing maintenance calendars for landlords with several properties. Each service follows the same basic method: confirm the work needed, check access and any permissions required, book the slot, and follow up once the job is done.
Tell us what needs doing and when you would like it done. We reply within about an hour during business hours.
